Dropping Him Off

Tony and I drove to the hospital separately, since I was going to be staying longer to take care of the billing stuff.  Hudson refused to even stand up until his dad was there to help him out of the car. :D

While we waited for the tech, Hudson got lots of love from his dad, including his favorite, butt scratches.

When the tech came in, Hudson had to cuddle her.  He had met her late last week for his chest films and remembered her.  We went over last minute concerns, including a lump that had appeared in Hudson's mouth last night.  He had been chewing on a cow tibia bone and we think he bit his cheek.  I tend to go with the worst case scenario, so I was freaking out that it was a tumor.  Of course, the swelling had gone down this morning, but I still asked to have Dr. Stubbs take a look at it.

We also verified that we would be allowed to see Hudson during visitor hours tonight.  My dear friend Marie has a former foster dog, Izzy, going through Osteosarcoma as well.  Izzy's parents weren't allowed to get close to her the night of her surgery.  (That was not going to fly with me, regardless.  I just needed to think of a way to force my way back there.  :)  Fortunately, Dr. Stubbs doesn't have any problem with us seeing Huddy Buddy after his surgery.

Since they aren't taking him back for surgery until late afternoon, the vet tech recommended we wait until 8:30 to come visit.  This will allow Hudson time to come out of the anesthesia and be more aware of what is going on around him.  Visiting hours are 7-9, so we'll be limited on time, but I imagine Hudson won't be up to a long visit anyway.
